As a longtime member of Oregon Women for Agriculture, IFO has admired how advanced farmers are in the high tech world. Farmers were among the first to adopt computerized bookkeepping and field equipment.
As with housework, mechanization has saved much labor, but added new stresses. One of the most amazing sights IFO has seen has been farm equipment harvesting wheat or grass seed late at night – headlights blazing as the farmer-operator works late into the night in the hope of beating the Fall rains.
It is amazing to see just how even a medium-sized a farm operates these days. Here’s a video that shows Oregon farm operations throughout the year in the Willamette Valley.
