Got to hurry. The word on the street is that the Internet will slow down or stop once the Olympic Games get started. Not sure we believe this. Remember Y2K? Remember Kohoutek? [Wikipedia says in that entry: “The comet is frequently mentioned in the sci-fi novel Lucifer’s Hammer.”]
Now, on to the serious stuff. Gold closed at $1624/oz. Big jump from last week, when it closed at $1584. Silver closed at $27.77/oz ($27.33 last week). Crude oil closed at 90.17/bbl ($91.56). And of course the Dow closed UP at 13,075, first time over 13,000 in a long time. At first, we started to think the Fed was doing another QE, but perhaps not. MarketWatch says, “Stocks soar on Europe hopes, Treasurys tank.”
So, how did our Model Portfolio Index do? Quite well, thank you. Did it beat the Dow today? Yes.
