Are we getting ready for World War III?

A Presidential Executive Order signed last Friday, probably at 4:59 pm, reads like a preparation for: World War III, the Second Coming, an alien invasion from outer space, or equivalent disaster. No national discussion. No Congressional discussion. Or if there was, it was WAAYYY under the radar.

The order gives the President and his “assistants” (formerly known as Czars, we think) authority to take over any public or private industrial or agricultural facility, cancel private orders in favor of federal needs, and give subsidies to “provide appropriate incentives to develop, maintain, modernize, restore, and expand the productive capacities of domestic sources for critical components…”

It gives federal government agencies other vast powers to take over fields and factories, to install government equipment in private factories, and so on for 5,376 words.

Curiously, this order revokes Executive Order 12919 of June 3, 1994, and sections 401(3) (4) of Executive Order 12656 of November 18, 1988.

Hard to believe, eh? Yet here it is… http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2012/03/16/executive-order-national-defense-resources-preparedness.

This announcement came out in the middle or near the end of a flurry of appointments to various posts in the federal government, and other speeches and remarks.

Today the President is popping a couple of cold ones with the Irish boys down at the pub in DC. Isn’t that just so cool? Take a look at the White House website – at least it is available to us, for now.

Investment lesson: open all your emails. You never know what links a friend will send you. The Internet is full of information. No one person can see it all, but with good friends to help, you can expand your knowledge horizons.
