Investing independently is part of an independent lifestyle

Lately the market has been so weird/volatile that we have just decided to sit back and watch the carnage. It hasn’t been as bad as we feared, but it’s nice just to take a rest.

Part of our rest involves doing a lot of volunteer work for some groups we support. Some are professional writers’ groups and some are pure-play do-gooders, such as an ag-support group and the local historical society. Those are nice, positive activities and give us a sense that we are of some value aside from our professional occupation’s contribution.

The other part of rest is a weekend on the Coast to enjoy spa treatments, cooking classes, walks, singing, and other relaxing, low-key activities which did not require any heavy-duty thinking or responsible behavior. We just got back to the home/office this afternoon and are all charged up and more than ready to do some real work. It does one good to get away for a while.

About InvestingforOne

I've been investing in various assets by myself using a discount broker for many years. Over that time, I've developed some theories that others might find useful. Plus, there is more to investing than money. Time, talent, work, friends, family all go into developing a good and satisfactory strategy.
