The California Milk Processor Board had to issue an apology for a very funny milk ad campaign designed by an award-winning firm in San Francisco: Goodby, Silverstein and partners, whose ads are way out there. For more details, see the Orange County Business Journal story.

In her days as a contributor for Advertising Age magazine, IFO had occasion to see Jeff Goodby in an appearance in Portland. He was a very low-key guy, but clearly very smart. The firm’s ads were classics and we think the SF company considered Portland’s Wieden+Kennedy , also way out there, one of their semi-equals. Ad people all believe they have NO equal, but you know what we mean.
We read some of the copy from Goodby’s latest, killed milk campaign “Everything I Do Is Wrong.” Frankly, we thought it was funny. Of course, our PMS days are over, but still… If you can’t laugh at your troubles, you are in even deeper trouble.
