We’ve just had a good lesson in not jumping to conclusions and the value of doing direct research. Chatted with the lady at the front desk while getting breakfast.
BTW, we highly recommend the lodging place, Jim Butler Inn. It is pretty old-fashioned, but right in the center of town. It is a mining town and the woman I talked to set me straight on the economy. The dilapidated, abandoned motel was that way due to the death of the owner and subsequent financial confusion.
Mining is the economic mainstay of the town. The high school mascots are named The Muckers. The motel woman said additional exploration for many metals and minerals was being stepped up – gold, copper and lithium, after an admitted downturn.
So – that is IFO’s reinforced notion that you must do as much of your own research as you can.
