When we little people look up at the giants: big government, big corporations, big athletes and entertainers, we sometimes feel insignificant.
OTOH, it’s nice to be down here in the shadows, where, hopefully, they can’t see us. Today, Goldman Sachs has joined battle with the U.S. government – two titans if there ever were any!
Here’s todays WSJ report on the matter to date: “Goldman Plans to Fight Back Against Senate Report” What interested us most was the reported fact that GS has turned over “tens of millions of documents” to the committee. The company plans to argue that the committee was guilty of “sloppy math and incomplete analysis” of those documents.
Ya think! Sloppy math and incomplete analysis is a specialty of the U.S. Senate! Not to say that Goldman is blameless. Many financial commentators and their followers, like The Big Picture, have pounded on Goldman for quite a while, so in April, when it was released, the blog said the report was “brutal.”
Makes our little disputes look pretty puny, eh?
